Blue Valley Winery and Vineyard in Delaplane, VA was awarded a bronze medal at the 2015 San Francisco International Wine Competition for its 2013 Heritage White Blend.
The largest and most influential wine competition in America, the San Francisco International Wine Competition has been setting the standard for professional wine judging since its debut in 1980. Now in its 35th year, the SFIWC maintains the highest level of integrity with a blind-tasting system performed by a highly experienced panel of internationally acclaimed wine experts.
Sterigo Zissios, co-owner of Blue Valley Vineyards accepted the award on behalf of the winery. “My family heritage began in the picturesque mountains of Greece, one of the oldest wine-making regions of the world. We have continued this family tradition here in northern Virginia and are honored to accept this award for our 2013 Heritage White,” he concluded.
This year’s San Francisco International Wine Competition received the highest number of nominations in the award’s 35 year history and included 4,902 products from 29 states and 26 countries.
The 2013 Heritage (white blend) is described as a winemaker’s dream, warm toasty oak flavors well-integrated with a dynamic flavor profile of lush honeydew, roasted cashews and lively acidity.
