Bethlehem-based Five Maidens was named 2023 Best of Show at PA Farm Show Cider Competition for their Cranberry Cider.

Five Maidens Cider Company wins first place in the barreled category with their “The Bung is Too Big.”

Expert judges evaluated 65 cider entries from 15 Pennsylvania cideries for the contest. Results are below:

  • Modern Cider (Dry) – 1st: Otto’s Brewery, 2nd: Threadbare Cider, 3rd (tie): Good Intent Cider, Ploughman Cider
  • Modern Cider (Sweet) – 1st: Brother Monk Cider Works, 2nd: Good Intent Cider, 3rd: Wyndridge Farm
  • Heritage Cider – 1st: Big Hill Ciderworks, 2nd: Good Intent Cider, 3rd (tie): Ploughman Cider, Frecon Farms
  • Sour Cider – 1st: Big Hill Ciderworks
  • Fruit Cider – 1st: KingView Mead, 2nd: Five Maidens, 3rd: Otto’s Brewery
  • Hopped Cider – 1st: Five Maidens, 2nd: Threadbare Cider, 3rd: Brother Monk Ciderworks
  • Spiced Cider – 1st (tie): Threadbare Cider, Deep Roots Hard Cider, 3rd: Brother Monk Ciderworks
  • Wood Aged Cider – 1st: Five Maidens, 2nd: Good Intent Cider, 3rd: Ploughman Cider
  • Dessert Cider – 1st and 2nd: Big Hill Ciderworks, 3rd: Deep Roots Hard Cider

Lovedrafts Brewing Co. won first place in the light lager and ales category as well as Best in Show with “Grim.”

Lovedrafts Brewing Co., of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Co., won first place in the light lager ales category as well as Best in Show with “Grim” at the 107th PA Farm Show Beer Awards. Logyard Brewing took the PA Preferred™ Legacy Award with their “Belly-Pan Pale Ale.”
