We are pleased to announce the newest member of our wine making team, Kathleen Lodahl. Kathleen brings her passion for sustainable wine to the White Bluffs vineyard, joining Winemaker Joe Hudon as our Winery Tech. We are all looking forward to our first harvest together.
Kathleen Lodahl spent her childhood on the Columbia River northwest of Tri-Cities before moving with her family to Port Angeles, WA. After a successful career as a Massage Therapist, Kathleen moved back to the Yakima Valley to fully immerse herself in all things Wine.
In 2007, she entered the Winery & Vineyard tech program at Yakima Valley Community College. From 2007-2015 she worked with winemakers Mark Wysling, Victor Palencia, Paul Beveridge, Bill Ammons, Marcus Miller and Steven Sealock. During this time she also spent several seasons working in vineyards under the mentorship of Naches Heights Vineyard’s Phil Cline while pursuing her knowledge of sustainable, organic, and biodynamic agriculture methods. In 2010 she spent a month abroad immersed in Eco-Agriculture studying Biodynamics at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland and Slow Food/Slow Wine in Piemonte, Italy as part of a Western Washington University international program.
Kathleen has a passion for growing and making Washington Wines that are sustainably produced. She hopes to explore an artisanal approach to winemaking while preserving a sense of place and varietal characteristics. She is excited to find her winery and vineyard home at Claar Cellars on the White Bluffs of the Columbia River.
