The 24th Annual Wine Industry Financial Symposium, the original and flagship event of the financial sector of the wine business, will be held this year on Monday, Sept. 21 and Tuesday, Sept. 22 at the Napa Valley Marriott, Napa, CA.
For 24 years, Professor & Dean Emeritus, Robert Smiley, Director of Wine Studies at the U.C. Davis Graduate School of Management, has presented the Executive Survey. His annual talk will reveal how critical issues are impacting leaders in the wine community. Ted Baseler, President & CEO, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates will also present, exploring topics such as water, private labels, the threat of neo-prohibitionists and the Northwest migration trend.
Other topics of vital interest will include a harvest update, the results of John Gillespie’s Millennial Research Project and an insightful peek at the competition such as “newly-legalized substances” in some states from Jim Smith, President of Republic National Distilling Company-Colorado who will illuminate with his presentation on “Share of Buzz.” We are also very pleased to announce that the newly appointed Dr. Damien Wilson, Hamel Family Faculty Chair at Sonoma State will speak to the international nature of the wine business. Ian Harris, Chief Executive, the Wine & Spirits Education Trust and of Wine Vision in the UK has also agreed to enrich the program. Mr. Harris was recently awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise, the UK’s most prestigious award for businesses that have excelled in innovation, international trade and sustainable development.
Eight Monday seminars have been planned along with a special VIP Dinner on Monday night Sept. 21 at Jamieson Ranch Vineyard featuring guest speaker, The Honorable Mike Thompson.
